A Profession at a Crossroads—Insights from a Historical Lens

The challenges currently facing the accounting and management professions will be discussed in the webinar “A Profession at a Crossroads—Insights from a Historical Lens”, which will take place on 7 October at 9.30 am, online. The session will feature Alan Sangster, a researcher at the University of Aberdeen in the United Kingdom.

Taking a historical perspective, the webinar aims to reflect on the evolution of the profession and the challenges it faces at a time of transformation in professional practices. An analysis of the profession’s history will enable a discussion of the changes, trends and issues that continue to shape its development.

The session forms part of the activities organised by CEOS. It involves students from various levels of study at FCEP/UTP, namely those on the bachelor’s degree programmes in Accounting and Management, Consultancy and Translation, Business Communication, and Business Creativity and Innovation, as well as those on the master’s degree programmes in Accounting and Finance, Corporate Finance, Auditing and Management, and the Legal and Business Framework of the Social Economy.

Alan Sangster’s participation will enable students to gain an international perspective on the evolution of the professions and foster discussion on the challenges currently facing education and professional practice.
