About the Event
Communicating science to non-specialist audiences is the theme of the webinar ‘Communicating science: from the laboratory to the street’, which CEOS.PP is organising on 21 October, from 4.30 pm to 5.30 pm, online. The session will be led by Mónica Valderrama Santomé, from the Department of Audiovisual Communication and Advertising at the University of Vigo.
The research carried out by Mónica Valderrama Santomé, who undertook a research placement at CEOS.PP during September, focuses on science communication practices and the various methods used by universities and research institutions to disseminate knowledge and engage with diverse audiences. During her stay at CEOS.PP, the researcher conducted interviews and carried out observational work on strategies, formats and approaches to science communication.
It is on the basis of this work that the webinar ‘Communicating science: from the laboratory to the street’ has been organised, with the aim of addressing the challenges currently facing universities in disseminating their research. Throughout the session, different strategies and formats for science communication will be analysed, seeking to identify the elements that contribute to more effective dissemination. Based on this analysis, a number of practical proposals will be presented that could help universities improve the reach and impact of their communication initiatives.
Free to attend, subject to prior registration.
