Digitalisation, Formality and Informality

On 29 September at 7.00 pm, CEOS.PP will host a lecture entitled ‘Digitalisation, Formality and Informality’, featuring Klaus West, a researcher and consultant with expertise in the fields of labour policy, industrial relations and social dialogue.

The session will take place at FCEP/UTP, in both face-to-face (CEOS.PP Main Room) and online, allowing researchers and students to participate both on-site and via the Horizon INSEAI European project network.

The lecture will address the relations between digitalisation, formality and informality, exploring the impacts of technological transformations on work and labour relations. The topic forms part of the discussions promoted by the INSEAI project, which is dedicated to the challenges associated with artificial intelligence and digital transformation in the world of work.

The initiative is organised as part of the Horizon INSEAI project, with the support of the European Commission.

About the Speaker:

Klaus West holds a PhD in Political Science and Sociology from the Free University of Berlin and has pursued a career spanning academic research, labour policy, and social dialogue. He held senior positions at the DGB and the IG BCE trade union and coordinated research on employment alliances across Europe. He was a Visiting Professor at Paris XII and Paris III Universities and a Visiting Scholar at the Center for European Studies at Harvard University. From 2010 to 2018, he served as Executive Director of the Chemie Foundation Social Partners’ Academy and has worked as an independent research consultant since 2019.
