Research Open Day 2026

CEOS.PP is organising the Research Open Day, aimed at ISCAP Master’s students, to mark Researchers’ Night. The event will take place on 6 October, from 6.30 pm, in the FCEP Grand Auditorium, and aims to raise awareness of different areas of scientific knowledge and the practices associated with academic activity.

The initiative will also serve as a forum for students and researchers to meet and exchange ideas, providing an opportunity to learn about projects, ask questions, discuss ideas and discover different approaches to scientific work.

The event is free of charge and subject to REGISTRATION in advance. A certificate will be issued to all participants.

PROGRAMME:

18:30 — Welcome Speech & Young Researcher Award

CEOS.PP welcomes all future researchers and launches the Young Researcher Award, a competition aimed at recognising the best final Master’s projects (dissertations or internship/project reports) submitted by students enrolled on courses taught at FCEP.

18:45 — Young Researchers’ Club

Presentation of the Young Researchers’ Club, led by Rui Bertuzi, deputy director of CEOS.PP, with the aim of fostering scientific inquiry and developing scientific culture and skills. The Club promises to set challenges and promote opportunities, but also features informal gatherings such as the Club Café, to share scientific knowledge and forge partnerships between young researchers and senior researchers. The initiative aims to involve students in research projects, thereby enriching their academic experience, whilst supporting them throughout their research development process.

19:00 — Research Workshop: Research in Action

This workshop, led by Elif Göksu Öztürk and Adalberto Fernandes, research assistants at CEOS.PP, will introduce participants to the fundamentals that every researcher must master in order to analyse quantitative data and construct sound arguments.

Ahead of the Research Open Day, the 4th edition of the PACCDIN (Annual Plan for Short-Term Research Courses) kicks off with the course How to Search Scientific Databases, led by Teresa Barros and Ricardo Bahia Machado, lecturers at FCEP and researchers at CEOS.PP.
