About the Event

The webinar ‘The Role of Accounting in Enabling the Flourishing of Nature: Opportunities and Challenges’, which is part of the ISCAP/IPP Accounting Webinar Series, will be led by Lisa Powell.


The event will take place on 22 April at 9.30 am, in an online format, and is aimed at the academic community and the general public, incorporating various bachelor’s and master’s programmes at ISCAP, including the Bachelor’s degrees in Accounting and Business Administration, in Consultancy and Translation, in Business Creativity and Innovation, and in Business Communication, as well as the Master’s programmes in Accounting and Finance, in Corporate Finance, in Auditing, and in Management and the Legal Framework of the Social Economy.


About the guest:

Lisa Powell is an interdisciplinary educator and researcher in the Department of Accounting at Monash Business School. Lisa has a PhD in Accounting and has completed the Graduate Diploma in Psychology and Graduate Certificate in Education. She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy UK. Lisa has been awarded the 2021 Dean's Award for Teaching Excellence, the 2022 Vice-Chancellor's Award for Teaching Excellence, and the national AAUT 2023 Award for Teaching Excellence for her work in rewilding accounting education. Lisa has a particular interest in ecological and multispecies justice. Her research incorporates posthumanist, ecofeminist, and queer theory perspectives to explore the role that accounting plays in social and environmental issues. Lisa incorporates creativity and interdisciplinary aspects into accounting education to develop innovative pedagogies that provide students with the opportunity to understand the interconnectedness of accounting and social and environmental issues. Lisa is passionate about issues of equity and diversity and has received the 2019 Vice-Chancellor's Diversity and Inclusion Award and the 2020 Dean’s Commendation for Equity, Diversity and Social Inclusion Education Excellence.
