About the Event

Students on the Master’s in Accounting and Finance will have the opportunity to practise presenting their final dissertations ahead of their public examinations, through the Three Minute Thesis Challenge’27, an initiative organised by the Master’s Programme Management, in collaboration with the CEOS.PP Young Researchers’ Club.

The session will take place on 31 October, online, and will be dedicated to the presentation and discussion of the theses before a panel of researchers and lecturers in the field of Accounting and Finance. The challenge aims to recreate a setting similar to that which students will encounter during their public defence, enabling them to test how they present and defend the work they have carried out. The experience also aims to contribute to the development of scientific communication skills, helping participants to present the main contributions of their research in a clear, concise and well-reasoned manner. The discussion following each presentation will also help to identify areas for improvement ahead of the public defences, ranging from the structure and clarity of the presentation to the ability to answer questions and justify the choices made throughout the research.

The Young Researchers’ Club’s involvement forms part of its mission to bring students closer to the scientific community and create opportunities to participate in research and academic development activities. Through the Club, students have access to various opportunities, including participation in research projects and scholarships, free training – notably through the PACCDIN courses – and access to CEOS.PP’s research infrastructure and software.

How to take part?

Participation in the Three Minute Thesis Challenge’27 is free of charge and includes the award of a certificate of participation. Interested students should express their intention to take part by emailing the Management of the Master’s in Accounting and Finance, acfs@iscap.ipp.pt, by 24 October 2026.

The initiative is aimed at students on the Master’s in Accounting and Finance who are preparing for their public examinations and aims to provide them with a space for preparation, discussion and interaction with researchers prior to the final presentation of their work. The session will take place online on 31 October; the time and access link will be communicated to registered participants at a later date.
