Teresa Pataco
Associate Researcher
Teresa Pataco holds a Bachelor (with Honours) of Modern Languages and Literatures (specialisation in Translation) from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities (University of Porto), a Master of Translation Studies from the same university and successfully completed a postgraduate course in Translation for Subtitling at the Higher Institute of Assistants and Interpreters (now European Business School). She is currently doing her PhD research in Terminology, Documentation and Corpora, at the Faculty of Philology and Translation, University of Vigo.
She has taught English for Specific Purposes at higher education institutions since 1997, in bachelor's degrees and postgraduate courses in the areas of Tourism, Management and Accounting, Hotel and Catering Management, Information Technology and Design.
Apart from the teaching activities, she has been part of the translation team responsible for the Portuguese version of JADA, The Journal of the American Dental Association, since 1997.
As a researcher, she is a full member at CEOS.PP – Centre of Organisational and Social Studies, and CiTUR – Centre for Tourism Research, Development, and Innovation as an associate researcher. Her research interests are in the fields of English for Specific Purposes, Translation, Terminology, and Corpora. She has been a member of the organisation and scientific committees of national and international seminars and conferences and has published several scientific papers and book chapters.
