Article by a CEOS.PP researcher honoured with the Best Paper Award by the journal Mathematics

The scientific article Evaluating the Effectiveness of Time Series Transformers for Demand Forecasting in Retail, authored by Patrícia Ramos, a researcher at CEOS.PP, and José Manuel Oliveira, has been awarded the Best Paper Award by the international scientific journal Mathematics.



Published in 2024, the article analyses the effectiveness of models based on Transformers in time series forecasting applied to demand in the retail sector. The research contributes to the development and evaluation of advanced Artificial Intelligence methodologies, demonstrating the potential of these approaches to improve the accuracy of forecasting models.


This distinction is particularly significant given the prestige of the journal Mathematics, which is ranked in the first quartile of the Journal Impact Factor (JIF Q1) and has a JIF percentile of 94.4, reflecting its high impact on the international scientific community.
