Fátima Pacheco, a researcher at CEOS.PP, is the co-author of the triology Novos Estudos de Cidadania (New Citizenship Studies), published by Editora Petrony, which is a reflection on Europe and its values and on the importance of citizen participation in the implementation of the European project.
New Citizenship Studies consists of 3 volumes and has Professor Isabel Baltazar, from the Institute of Contemporary History at NOVA FCSH, as its lead researcher. She is leading the interdisciplinary project Fostering European Citizenship Skills: All Together Now! and the contribution of Fátima Pacheco, Luís Cardoso and Susana Sardinha Monteiro.
The trilogy is a reflection on Europe and its values, as well as on the importance of citizen participation in the implementation of the European project. Vol. I has a foreword by Professor Dr Guilherme d'Oliveira Martins, Vol. II has a foreword by Professor Dr Lopes Porto and Vol. III by Professor Dr António Nóvoa, all illustrious representatives of Portuguese academia.
Vol. I focuses on the specificity of European culture, based on diversity and complementarity; Vol. II presents a set of reflections on the future of the European Union, in the context of the exercise of citizenship, and finally Vol. III focuses on education for citizenship, taking into account the European dimension of education.
