Call for Chapters: Digital Marketing and Brand Visibility in the Age of Generative Discovery
A Call for Chapters is now open for the forthcoming book Digital Marketing and Brand Visibility in the Age of Generative Discovery, which will examine how generative artificial intelligence is transforming brand visibility and the ways in which consumers discover information.

The book aims to bring together research on an emerging environment in which brand content is no longer addressed exclusively to consumers, but is also processed by systems that retrieve, synthesise and present information. It will explore how generative mediation is reshaping brand visibility and transforming concepts, approaches and measurement practices traditionally used in marketing research.
The call is open to scholars, practitioners and industry experts, with contributions invited on a wide range of topics related to digital marketing and brand building in this changing environment. Proposed themes include conceptual foundations such as the economics of attention, brand salience, awareness, consideration sets and brand equity, as well as generative and algorithmic discovery through AI-generated answers, recommender systems and agentic commerce.
The book will also examine the relationship between consumer attention and brand building, including computational, biometric and neuromarketing approaches, as well as the role of influencers, user-generated content, synthetic personas and online communities in shaping how brands are represented by AI systems.
Another key area concerns the measurement of brand visibility on generative platforms, including the development and validation of metrics and research designs addressing issues such as attribution, stability and replicability. Ethical and regulatory dimensions will also be addressed, including visibility concentration, manipulation, bias, transparency, European regulation, consumer welfare and the environmental costs associated with competing for visibility.
Contributions may also explore applications across different sectors and contexts, including tourism, retail, B2B, SMEs, hospitality, high-consideration categories, the public and non-profit sectors, and cross-cultural markets.
Interested contributors should submit a 1,000-word proposal clearly outlining the focus and contribution of the proposed chapter, together with relevant references.
The proposal submission deadline is 25 October 2026, while full chapters are due by 17 January 2027. The book is expected to be published in June 2027. No publication fees will be charged. Following completion of the project, the book will be submitted for evaluation and possible indexing in Scopus and other academic databases.
The book is edited by Lara Mendes (Polytechnic University of Coimbra), Miguel Pereira (University of Aveiro), and Paula Pinheiro (Polytechnic University of Viseu).
