III Congress of RNEC – National Network in Cultural Studies

Cristina Cardoso and Rita Mota, researchers at CEOS.PP, presented, as part of the 3rd RNEC Congress - National Network of Cultural Studies - Inter-Multi-Trans-Pan-Anti-In-Disciplinary Studies, the study Hofstede's Cultural Dimensions: An Analysis of the Peaky Blinders Series in relation to Masculinity vs. Femininity.

The study focuses on the sociocultural analysis of the series through an approach to Hofstede's Cultural Dimensions Theory, with a greater focus on the Masculinity vs. Femininity Dimension. Based on a qualitative methodology of documentary analysis, it explores the understanding of the object at a historical and sociocultural level, covering the social, cultural and political dynamics of different eras. The Masculinity vs. Femininity dimension selected for the presented study highlights the division of emotional roles and the distribution of values between genders, with a focus on valuing traditional masculine and feminine roles.

The third edition of the RNEC Congress - National Network of Cultural Studies - Inter-Multi-Trans-Pan-Anti-In-Disciplinary Studies took place at ISCAP on July 11 and 12. The Congress, organized by the Centre for Intercultural Studies, brought together academics, researchers and national and international institutions dedicated to Cultural Studies.
